Simple Iterative Model for Adjusting Hazen-Williams Friction Coefficient for Drip
نویسندگان
چکیده
Hazen-Williams equation is used widely by irrigation systems’ designers due to its simplicity. However, Darcy-Weisbach equation is more accurate and reliable. The accuracy of the latter is due to its friction coefficient, which depends on both flow characteristics and pipe surface state. On the other hand, Hazen-Williams’ coefficient (C) depends only on pipe substance and age. A comparative analysis of both models was performed through a simple iterative model. The analysis was based on the real state design procedure of drip laterals. More accurate values of coefficientCwere suggested to be used in designing drip laterals. A straightforward equation was developed to compute C depending on emitter flowrate, emitter flow exponent, and pipe diameter. The results reveal that C ranges from 132 to 138 for drip laterals, while it was proved that using C=150 is reasonable for manifolds design.

متن کاملRelationship between Hazen-William coefficient and Colebrook-White friction factor: Application in water network analysis
Although Darcy-Weisbach (D-W) equation has been accepted as a standard resistance equation in pressurized flow, some researchers and engineers still prefer to utilize Hazen-Williams (H-W) equation for analyzing water distribution networks (WDNs) in practice. The main difference between roughness coefficients of these two resistance equations is that D-W friction factor varies with Reynolds numb...

Amaranthus cruentus, an annual vegetable crop, is known to be highly productive under rain-fed conditions and during the dry season when supplied with water. However, for good water management, there is need to accurately quantify the water consumed by the crop. This paper investigates the water use and biomass yield of differentially irrigated Amaranthus cruentus at different developmental sta...
